About us

A major portion of the projects in Ghana is financed through the proceeds generated from the annual christmas market, which takes place every year on the first advent weekend of the season. With the establishment of the mission committee within the parish of Kuchl in 1982, our modest christmas market at that time began small and has grown considerably in volunteer involvement, time investment, and product variety.

After a well-earned break and the yearning to continue our crafting passion sets in again, our 8-member craft group begins its work each year in February, starting with a brainstorming session to decide, “what can we make this year?” Thereafter, we meet one evening a week at the home of Gundi Weiss, our group leader. She and her family have generously offered their cozy kitchen area as our craft workshop, and we are very grateful to them!

The following months we are busy crafting various christmas decorations, as well as small toys for children. Kathi Brandauer and Hilde Unterpirker support us with their stitchery talents, cross-stitching many beautiful items, such as pillows, hand towels, table cloths and runners. Traudi and Seppi Wimmer are responsible for making over 800 candles for our advent wreaths, in addition to their many creative specialty candles – all made with pride and joy!  During the week prior to market opening, long evenings are spent setting up and decorating our sales area in Kuchl’s parish rectory, making everything just right for our visitors.

We want to thank all of the numerous helping-hands who support us year after year stitching, binding and decorating wreaths, baking cookies and cakes, and donating other goodies, which make the christmas market so special. Working together has made this a successful event and will continue so, in order to bring a bit of sunshine to the needy in this world, today and tomorrow.

The Missionskreis Kuchl thanks you for your support !
